One of the most anticipated movies of the year is James Cameron's sequel to the 2009 blockbuster Avatar, the sequel titled the Way of Water will hit theaters worldwide in just one week.

The sequel is just one of two other planned sequels for the franchise, the third movie already has wrapped shooting and is in post-production and the fourth movie is in the early stages of production.

Ina recent interview with Collider, the director spoke about his experience with writing the scripts for parts three and four and the responses he got from the studio executives at the studio.

The story for Avatar: The Way of Water and its two sequels have been written by James Cameron, Rick Jaffa, Amanda, Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno.

in the interview, the director said " When I turned in the script for 4, the studio executive, and creative executive over the films wrote me an email that said, ‘Holy f!#k.’ And I said, ‘Well, where are the notes?’ And she said, ‘Those are the notes.’ Because it kind of goes nuts in a good way, right?”

Considering James Camero's track record of astonishing critics and audiences throughout his career and pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling, we are not surprised by the response he got from the studio.

Camero also went on to add that Peter Jackon's handling of the Lord of The rings trilogy inspired his approach to Avatar and its sequel by having the actors and the crew know his full vision and what he had planned.

“My model was what Peter Jackson did with The Lord of the Rings, which was a crazy bet in its time. And really hats off to that, that they took that chance to launch on all three of those films".

Avatar: The Way of Water had its world premiere in London recently and considering the overwhelmingly positive reactions from critics it is clear that Cameron's approach to the sequel has worked.

The sequel is one of the most expensive movies ever produced with a massive budget of 400 million dollars and will focus on Jake Skully and his family as they flee their homeland and seek refugee after the second invasion of Pandora by the Humans.

The cast of the movie includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet.

Avatar: The Way of Water will hit theaters on December 16th.
