Janhvi Kapoor on getting an ‘easy launch’ with Dharma: ‘It has maybe made me a target that's easy to hit’

The on and off nepotism debate was sparked all over again when it was first announced that Janhvi Kapoor will be making her debut as an actor in Bollywood. This is because her late mother Sridevi was a superstar while her father Boney Kapoor is one of the most prominent filmmakers of the industry. On top of all this, she was launched by Karan Johar ’s Dharma Productions. But despite being privileged, the young star kid worked hard day and night to earn her place in the industry.

In a recent chat with Bollywood Life, Janhvi was asked if starting her journey with Dharma put her in the crosshairs of people who thought she got an ‘easy launch’. The star kid replied, “I guess so.” She shared that the kind of curiosity and reach that Dharma has is unparallel. But she went on to state, “Yeah it has added a certain amount of pressure and a certain amount of like, maybe, made me a target that's easy to hit but I will never for a second regret it because what Karan and what Dharma has given me.. I think I'm so unbelievably lucky and I guess privileged.”

Janhvi added, “I have so much respect, it's given me too much. And more than anything it's given me confidence, and love and guidance from a maker like Karan that I will always have the utmost respect for.” After her debut film Dhadak , Janhvi proved her versatility with Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl and Roohi. She recently won hearts with her spectacular performance in Mili, produced by her father, which featured her as a nursing graduate who gets stuck in a restaurant’s freezer.

Janhvi’s younger sister Khushi is now following in her footsteps. She will be making her acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix film The Archies soon.
