    Actress Janhvi Kapoor reacts to the common myth behind her name.


    Janhvi Kapoor has reacted to a common myth about her name according to which she was named after actress Urmila Matondkar ’s character in the film Judaai . Jahnvi, who is late actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor’s first born. Sridevi starred alongside Anil Kapoor and Urmila Matondkar in the film which was produced by Janhvi’s father.

    In an interview with Filmfare, Janhvi has denied rumours of being named after Urmila’s character and said, “No, I was not named after Urmila’s character in Judaai. I think dad just really liked the name from before the film and mom did too. I think mom was really obsessed with the idea that the meaning of it was purity and she would keep looking at me and keep telling me that I look pure and pure soul and things like that. So I feel it really resonated with her in that sense.”

    Late actress Sridevi who married Boney Kapoor in 1996 announced her pregnancy while she was working on Judaai. The film was a 1997 blockbuster and Janhvi was born in the month of March in the same year.

    Judaai was love triangle between Sridevi, Anil and Urmila’s character and remains one of the most memorable films of the 90’s which also earned the late actress a Filmfare Best Actress nomination. It was after Judaai, that Sridevi took a long hiatus from films to focus more on her family life and made her comeback in films after several years in 2012 with English Vinglish .

    On the work front, Janhvi Kapoor is busy with her film Bawaal with Varun Dhawan . She also has two South Indian remakes in her kitty with Mili which is a remake of the Malayalam film Helen and also has Good Luck Jerry which is a remake of the Tamil film Kolamaavu Kokila.
