Actor Jyothika is now starring in a series of Hindi films, sparking questions about the rationale behind her choices. However, she remains unfazed and unapologetic about her career decisions, as she builds a filmography that she is proud of.

Jyothika revealed that her priority is not the length but the strength of her character. She is even ready to pick a role with lesser screen time if it meets her only criterion: strength.

"My entire focus is on how strong the woman is on screen, whether it's two scenes or one in the entire film," Jyothika told Zoom.

She also praised male superstars who don't feel threatened by their co-stars and give them enough space to showcase their talents and shine. "I did Shaitaan because she was not the woman who was nagging her husband to do something. Instead, she lashes out at the villain. That's how it would happen in real life, as no mom will sit back and watch something happen to her daughter. I have to thank Ajay Devgn for that; he gave space for everyone to perform and come to the forefront. We need more secure male superstars who let their co-stars perform to their best abilities and give them that space onscreen without feeling insecure," she said.

Shaitaan marked Jyothika's comeback to Bollywood after many years. The film opened in cinemas in March this year and became a huge hit at the box office, grossing more than Rs 200 crore in ticket sales.

Shaitaan was the official remake of the Gujarati film Vash. It is a horror movie surrounding the theme of black magic. Actor Madhavan played the role of a sorcerer who torments a seemingly innocent family. The film is now streaming on Netflix.

Jyothika was also last seen in Srikanth, where she shared screen space with Rajkummar Rao. The movie garnered positive reviews and did well at the box office.

She will next be seen in the Netflix web series, Dabba Cartel.
