Late Jiah Khan's mother claims Mumbai Police & CBI have no legal evidence of suicide: "Sooraj responsible for killing my daughter"

Jiah Khan ’s death case saw fresh development as her mother Rabia Khan continued to record her statements on Thursday in Mumbai’s special court. She claimed that both Mumbai Police and the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) never collected any legal evidence to prove that her daughter committed suicide. She told the court that it is a murder and accused Sooraj Pancholi is responsible for killing her daughter.

The 25-year-old actress was found hanging herself at her residence in June 2013. Rabia narrated what all happened after her death in her testimony yesterday. She said that after she found her daughter hanging there with a dupatta, she immediately called actor Anju Mahendroo, who arrived with Moin Baig. They tried to put pressure on Jiah’s chest to get back her breathing, but the doctor declared her dead on arrival.

Following this, Mumbai Police reached the spot and an officer inspecting the crime scene said that it seems to be foul play, according to Rabia. She said that Sooraj’s father Aditya Pancholi also arrived and fell at her feet saying his son has ruined his own life and career. After which Rabia told Aditya that she had asked Jiah many times to stay away from his son. She also revealed that Anju Mahendroo suggested her not to mention Sooraj’s name as his father is connected to the underworld.

Furthermore, Rabia told the court that somebody had tampered with her daughter’s phone as many pictures and messages from her phone were deleted. Also, she suspects that the movement of her daughter’s body from Cooper Hospital to JJ Hospital was done with malafide intention. She concluded by saying, "Both the agencies (police and CBI) never collected any legal evidence to prove it was a case of suicide. I believe it is a murder and the accused is responsible for killing my daughter." Meanwhile, Sooraj, who was in a relationship with Jiah, had been booked for abetment of suicide in the case. He is currently out on bail.
