Nayanthara, Vignesh reveals they have been married for six years, as parenthood via surrogacy comes under question: reports

Actors Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan recently shared the good news with the world that they have welcomed two twin baby boys. However, along with the announcement the couple landed into trouble with the Ministry of Health after speculations of using a surrogate got the internet buzzing.

Well, apart from the news of the newlyweds welcoming two baby boys, several new details about the couple have also cropped up. While Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian questioned the procedure used by the actors in embracing parenthood, he also called for an enquiry into the matter.

According to the Surrogacy Act 2021, a couple needs to be married for five years or more to be able to opt for surrogacy. Furthermore, the surrogate mother has to be a close relative to the parents-to-be.

According to latest reports, Nayanthara and Vignesh have now submitted an affidavit to the Tamil Nadu Health Ministry along with appropriate documents which reflect that the have been legally married for the past six years. Furthermore, it has been claimed by the couple that the surrogate who carried their twin boys is Nayanthara’s relative residing in UAE.

Nayanthara and Vignesh had announced their plans to get married only this year, following which they held a ceremony in June which was attended by several big celebrities including Rajinikanth and Shah Rukh Khan.

Last week, Nayanthara and Vignesh shared a post on social media to announce to their fans that they are now parents. Several congratulatory messages poured in for the couple.
