Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar has commented on the end of Virat Kohli ’s journey as the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team and said that if he was in the cricketer’s place at the peak of his career, he wouldn’t have gotten married. Virat is married to actress Anushka Sharma, and Shoaib’s remarks on the Indian cricketer’s personal life seem to have irked netizens.

Shoaib Akhtar told Dainik Jagran in an interview: "Virat captained for 6-7 years and I was never in favour of his captaincy, I just wanted him to keep scoring 100-120 runs and keep the focus on his batting." He further spoke about how marriages affect a cricketer’s performance and added that he’s not against marriages but the 10-12 years of cricket won’t come again.

This is not the first time Virat Kohli’s marriage has been put on the spot while questioning his performance. Anushka Sharma has in the past too had to ward off unsavory remarks that blamed her if Virat’s game faltered.

Anushka Sharma may not have reacted to what Shoaib Akhtar has to say but several people on Twitter did share their views on this comment by the Pakistani cricketer and defended Virat’s decision of getting married as a personal choice.

Shoaib Akhtar’s comments on Virat and Anushka’s marriage came after the T20 World Cup lin-up was announced where India will play against Pakistan in Melbourne on October 23. The Pakistani cricketer expressed confidence that his country will beat India in the match.

Virat and Anushka on the other hand, are busy taking care of another issue after a picture of their daughter Vamika was telecasted against their will.
