Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' daughter Malti Marie's name is a tribute to their mothers, here's how

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas had taken to their social media handle earlier this year in January to announce the arrival of their newborn child via surrogacy. While no further details had been divulged, it has been revealed that the couple is parents to a baby girl whom they have named Malti Marie Chopra Jonas . Now it has been revealed that their daughter’s name is a tribute to the names of their mothers Madhu Chopra and Danielle Jonas.

Talking about the same, according to a news report in News18, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ daughter’s name is a representation of their two cultures along and also honors the names of their respective mothers. Priyanka’s mother’s full name is Madhumalti Chopra while Nick’s mother’s name is Danielle Marie Jonas. Thus, the name Malti has been inspired by Priyanka’s mother’s name while Marie has been taken from Nick’s mother’s full name.

Talking about the meaning of the child’s name, Malti means moonlight in Sanskrit and also means fragrant flower. On the other hand, Madhumalti is a name for another flower while Marie signifies the star of the sea. Well, we must say that the couple has indeed paid the utmost respect to their heritage and parentage while naming their daughter.

Earlier it was reported that TMZ had acquired the birth certificate of Malti Marie Chopra Jonas that had her other birth details along with the name. The certificate also mentioned the child was born on January 15, right after 8 pm in California. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra had taken to their social media account to share a mutual message in January where they had stated, “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much.”
