Priyanka Chopra reveals she was in a relationship when Nick slid into her DMs: ‘Was complicated on both our ends’

During a recent chat with Dax Shepherd, global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas revealed she was tired of politics in Bollywood which is what made her shift focus to the West. She took internet by storm when she remembered how people in the industry were not casting her, despite the fact that she is one of the most versatile and talented actresses of the country. But her interview was not just about the struggles she faced to become who she is today. During the podcast, the beauty also opened up about how love blossomed between her and American singer Nick Jonas .

The two have been happily married since the last 4 years and even welcomed their beautiful daughter Malti Marie into the world in 2022. Their relationship as well as their speedy engagement came as a pleasant surprise to fans. But Priyanka has now revealed that they knew each other for much longer than those two months before Nick proposed. The actress shared, “He (Nick) slid into my DMs in Twitter. I was in a tumultuous relationship at that time. This is 2016 and we had common friends who like didn’t want me to be in my [previous] relationship. They were like ‘Oh, he is single too. He is not really with that girl but he is..' It was complicated on both our ends.”

Their common friends wanted them to meet and even Nick’s older brother Kevin Jonas, who loved PeeCee in Quantico, asked him to call her. When Nick finally DMed Priyanka, she asked him to text her instead because her team could see these messages. The actress remembered, “He was like ‘Ya, ya, ya, you just want to give me your number.’ I kinda did [and I] didn’t wanna admit at that time because I was in a relationship.” Even though Priyanka and Nick were in complicated relationships before, it is heartwarming and magical how they ultimately found true love in each other. The perfect modern day fairytale!
