Ranveer Singh points to Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘chappal fashion’, furious fans react

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday ’s Liger trailer was unveiled with much fanfare in Hyderabad and Mumbai. Ranveer Singh also graced the launch as the chief guest of honour with film producer Karan Johar , Charmme Kaur, and director Puri Jagannadh on Thursday. While Singh arrived all dressed up in a glitzy outfit, Deverakonda came wearing a black T-shirt paired with brown trousers and put on flip-flops. Reacting to Deverakonda’s style, Ranveer wondered if has come for his own trailer launch as he is so overdressed comparatively. He also compared him to John Abraham saying Deverakonda can pull off the chappal look with as much swag as him.

Ranveer’s reaction to Deverakonda’s chappal didn’t go down well with the latter’s fans. They took to the comment section to express their anger. While one user wrote, “South Wale simple hi hothe hai no showoff very down to earth and i love tollywood celebrities” Some also slammed his fashion statement and wrote, “Phr bhi tusje zayda handsome lagraa”. Another said, “Atleast he didn't showed up wearing a skirt like you 😂”. “I have no idea how Deepika is still married to this self absorbed so called actor (more like a circus performer) He has no fashion sense and yet he’s insulting another man who’s confident in being dressed normal. I’m happy Alia flipped him off on national tv (sic),” added another.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated trailer has the audience raving about it ever since it dropped and fans have hailed it #TrailerOfTheYear. Deverakonda plays an MMA fighter, who is having a lisping issue which acts as his only insecurity. The trailer also showcases the spunky character of Ananya Panday who essays Deverakonda’s love interest. Legendary boxer, Mike Tyson also makes an extended cameo in the movie. The film marks Deverakonda’s debut in Bollywood. The film is set to release on August 25.
