Ranveer Singh recently spoke about him penning his own dialogues in his upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani . In the process, the actor might have taken a subtle dig at none other than Kangana Ranaut . He indirectly may have referred to Kangana taking writing credits for her 2016 film Simran which had resulted in a huge controversy and her fallout with screenwriter Apurva Asrani and director Hansal Mehta.

In a conversation with Film Companion’s Anupama Chopra, Ranveer Singh said that he has written some of his dialogues for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The actor said that director Karan Johar also wished to give him additional dialogue credits for the movie but Ranveer refused to take the same. The actor furthermore said that as performers, it is their duty to have that creativity to curate their own dialogues.

Ranveer Singh then went on to say that some actors have taken writing credits for their films in the past but I won’t do that. This dig might have been hinted at Kangana Ranaut. For the unversed, Kangana had taken the writing credits for her movie Simran which had not gone down well with screenwriter Apurva Asrani.

Reportedly, Kangana Ranaut’s name as an additional writer for Simran was placed higher which made Apurva Asrani quite upset. According to a news report in Hindustan Times, the Tanu Weds Manu Returns actress had claimed to write quite some of the dialogues and story in the movie. This also led to a fallout between her and the director of the movie Hansal Mehta.

In May last year, after it was reported that Kangana Ranaut has been diagnosed with COVID-19 , Apurva Asrani had shared a news article reporting the same and had written, “May this disease & discomfort give you time & space to look within. To examine the hurt & bitterness that you may have unleashed on innocent people, scarring them for life. May all that unresolved pain find its way out of every pore of your being. Get well soon Kangana.”
