Well, Karan Johar had earned quite a few brickbats for allegedly being partial towards Janhvi Kapoor and ‘dissing’ Sara Ali Khan in their episode of Koffee With Karan 7. In his defense, Karan had stated a goof-up by the crew in giving Janhvi the Koffee hamper as the reason for going soft on her and also revealed that he has some interesting projects coming up with Sara. Now, it looks like the producer-director has indeed kept his promise as he announced a patriotic flick Ae Watan Mere Watan starring Sara in the lead that will be produced under his production banner, Dharmatic Entertainment.

Talking about the same, Karan Johar shared a lovely picture with Sara Ali Khan. The two can be seen twinning in black attires in the same. Announcing the project in his caption, Karan wrote, “Extremely excited to have @saraalikhan95 on board with us @dharmaticent to tell a powerful true story!!!! We are supremely proud to have @primevideoin with us on yet another exciting venture…. #AEWATANMEREWATAN @apoorva1972 @somenmishra Directed by Kannan Iyer and written by @darabfarooqui and Kannan Iyer.” Take a look at his post.

Reportedly, speculations were rife in August this year that Sara Ali Khan will play real-life freedom fighter Usha Mehta in Ae Watan Mere Watan. An earlier news report in Bollywood Hungama had stated, “Sara signed this film earlier this year. Now that she has finished her other commitments, the film will go on the floors in a few weeks. She has been prepping for the film and is very excited to essay a real-life character for the first time.”

The report had gone on to say that the movie will primarily focus on Usha Mehta starting an underground radio station which was named Congress Radio. The radio station had a very important role to play during the Quit India Movement of 1942. Talking about the same, Usha Mehta’s radio station used to broadcast uncensored news and information that was banned by the British government, thus contributing vastly to the freedom struggle.
