Taapsee Pannu starrer Dobaaraa was released into the theatres this Friday (August 19) and despite getting some positive reviews, the movie has gotten a disastrous opening collection. The movie earned only Rs 30 to 35 lakh on its first day. Not only this but the film has amassed an even lesser opening collection than Kangana Ranaut ’s Dhaakad which was considered to be one of the biggest box office duds of the year.

According to a news report by Bollywood Hungama, due to a lack of promotional activity and the ongoing ‘Boycott Bollywood’ campaign, Dobaaraa earned Rs 30 to 35 lakh on its opening day. Whereas Kangana Ranaut starrer Dhaakad had garnered Rs 55 lakh. Now it will be interesting to see whether Taapsee Pannu’s film is able to gain some momentum in the upcoming days.

However, Taapsee Pannu did not go unescaped by trolls who soon took some sharp digs at her owing to her movie opening to such poor collections. One netizen stated, “Sasti copy, sasta opening” while another user said, “And Megastar Tapsee wants equal pay as male superstars.” Another netizen said, “Poor man's Kangana, collects poorer than Kangana?” A user also took a dig at the movie’s director Anurag Kashyap and stated, “Anurag Kashyap's appeal for boycotting the film has got overwhelming response. He should be happy for the respect he has got from the public.” A user also added, “This is like tight slap to papsee tannu. History has so many examples that arrogance has destroyed everything & this id iot duo (#AnuragKashyap) have gone overboard with their sick mentality.”

The backlash towards Taapsee Pannu’s Dobaaraa had increased after she and Anurag Kashyap had taken a jibe at the ‘Boycott Bollywood’ trend on Twitter. Talking about the movie, it also stars Pavail Gulati, Nassar, and Rahul Bhat in the lead roles. The movie is the Hindi remake of the Spanish film Mirage.
