Shamshera box office Day 1 prediction: Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor & Sanjay Dutt starrer aims for Rs 12-15 crore opening

The long-awaited movie Shamshera starring Ranbir Kapoor , Vaani Kapoor , and Sanjay Dutt finally released today,i.e July 22 in theatres. Much ahead of the release, the makers had started ticket sales through advance booking earning around Rs 2.70 crore reportedly. Going by its trend, the period-action drama can take opening day business to Rs 12.5 crore-14.5 crore.

Ranbir is returning after almost four years, so all eyes are on Shamshera. He was last seen in the 2018 film Sanju, which was one of the biggest hits of his career. Well, according to experts, the advance booking has not been up to the mark. It has been lower than that of Kartik Aaryan ’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. However, the film depends on walk-ins and spot booking. The opening day may come up to Rs 15 crore to 20 crores if the single screen, which doesn't have advanced booking culture, shows significant numbers on the day.

Ranbir’s earlier releases like Sanju ( Rs 34.75 cr) Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Rs 19.45 cr), Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (Rs 3.30 cr ), Tamasha (Rs 10.94 cr) has been biggest-first-day opener of his career. It is yet to be seen where Shamshera falls. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film made on budget of 150 crore is released on 4350 screens across India, a greater number of screens than Samrat Prithviraj (3750), 83 (3741), and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2(3200) among others

    .

Backed by Yash Raj Films , and directed by Karan Malhotra , Shamshera follows a dacoit tribe and their fight for independence against British rule. Ranbir plays the dual role of father and son, with Sanjay Dutt as an antagonist, and Vaani Kapoor as travelling performer. Considering that it is an absolute mass film, the box office numbers can escalate in a big way depending on word of mouth.
