Director Shekhar Kapur in a press conference revealed that he will begin shooting for a follow-up film on Masoom starring Naseeruddin Shah in 2025
Masoom
Shekhar Kapur’s Masoom is one of the cult classic films which garnered the filmmaker national accolades. Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, and Jugal Hansraj, the 1983 film revolves around a boy named Rahul and his relationship with a man he does not know is his father. Set to recreate the magic of Masoom, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur recently revealed that the follow-up will go on floors in 2025 and will see the return of Naseeruddin and Shabana.
Is Masoom 2 in the works?
While attending the 55th International Film Festival of India in New Delhi, Shekhar Kapur revealed that he will start shooting for the sequel of Masoom in 2025 and it will feature, Naseeruddin, Shabana along with actor Manoj Bajpayee. Manoj and Shekhar have previously worked on the 1994 film Bandit Queen.
He said, "I will start shooting for 'Masoom 2' in February-March 2025. The script is ready.”
Talking about a funny incident that he encountered recently regarding the script of Masoom, the filmmaker said, “In fact, I was flying in from Dubai yesterday and I left the script behind on my seat. I was very scared but it came back to me. The flight attendant wrote a note saying ''Masoom' was such a nice film, this one too would be as nice''. A script that was lost comes back, it's something predestined. It will be a different storyline but will have the same values.”
At the event, Shekhar Kapur also expressed his interest in re-releasing Masoom in theatres.
