Spotlight has to be treated like a temple… its sacrosanct, says Shahid Kapoor
In a recent interview, Bollywood superstar Shahid Kapoor spoke about what spotlight means to him amongst the other things

One of the most looked up social media personalities, Raj Shamani has often brought out the best in the celebrities, who have been seen gracing the occasion of his podcast. This time round, the one who was seen gracing the guest’s chair was none other than Shahid Kapoor himself, who was seen promoting his most awaited film Devaa, which was in addition to the various aspects of his life that he was seen talking about, including an actor’s mental process, fatherhood amongst other things.
It was during their conversation, Shahid Kapoor said (read ‘revealed’) that he was never content with himself! And, when the Deva actor was asked whether he still felt the need to prove himself with every new role that he signs, Shahid’s answer really won many hearts.
Shahid Kapoor said, “Yes, I still feel that way. When you’ve given 250 to 300 auditions, when you’ve been around people and seen the way, they look at you, wondering whether they should cast you, and you realize that your work is good—it’s a privilege to eventually get the spotlight”.
Shahid Kapoor added, “There are so many people who don’t get that privilege. If you don’t respect that privilege, you shouldn’t be there. That spotlight has to be treated like a temple. It’s sacrosanct, it’s sacred. You are truly blessed to be standing there.”
While describing his journey as one which consisted of continuous learning and self-discovery, Shahid Kapoor replied, “After 21 years, my biggest takeaway is that no one is better or worse. I am the best version of myself”.
As for the film Devaa, while the film has been written by the duo of Bobby-Sanjay, the action filled thriller has been directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Besides Shahid Kapoor (who will be seen in the role of a no-nonsense police officer), the film stars Pooja Hegde as the leading lady. Besides Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde, the film also stars Kubra Sait, and Pavail Gulati in all important roles. As for the release of Devaa, one can watch the film on the big screens from January 31, 2025.
For all the Shahid Kapoor fans, here is another good news for you! Besides Devaa, Shahid Kapoor will also be seen in the film titled Arjun Ustara, which is being directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. As per reports, the film will be released in theatres on December 5, 2025.
