    S.S. Rajamouli ’s RRR continues to roar across the globe months after its theatrical release. The maverick filmmaker is busy making creating some Oscars buzz for the film an at an event in Chicago recently, he finally made the announcement which all fans have been dying to hear. Rajamouli has confirmed that the sequel to RRR is indeed happening.

    RRR has had a sensational run at the domestic box office post its release in March and it also left many minds in Hollywood boggled with its larger than life sequences. Starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR the film also was released theatrically in Japan recently and has got a phenomenal response from the audience there.

    Rajamouli who is in Chicago now for a screening of the movie confirmed RRR 2 and said, “My father [Vijayendra Prasad] is the story writer for all my films. We discussed a bit about ‘RRR 2’ and he's working on the story.”

    More details on the sequel, of course, will be revealed in time but the filmmaker first has his next big project with actor Mahesh Babu to begin. RRR2 will certainly be worked on after Rajamouli’s upcoming film and the audience might have to wait a bit longer to see Ram Charan and Jr. NTR to reunite as Alluri Sita Rama Raju and Komaram Bheem on the big screen.

    Rajamouli’s next with Mahesh Babu will an action adventure film based on real events. The movie is expected to go on floors in 2023. The filmmaker described the project as a ‘James Bond or Indiana Jones film with Indian roots’ in an interview.

    For now, the RRR fever refuses to die down and film is hoping to land a few Oscar nominations next year despite not being picked as India’s official entry in the 2023 race.

    RRR in its life time has grossed over Rs. 1200 crores at the box office globally out of which the first 1000 crores were earned in the first 16 days alone.
