It was earlier reported that actress Sushmita Sen will be stepping into the shoes of renowned transgender activist Gauri Sawant for a six-episode web series. Now, the wait for her fans is finally over as the actress took to her social media handle to unveil her look as Gauri from the web series Taali . However, it looks like not everyone was pleased as one of the users felt that an actual transgender should have essayed the role.

Talking about the same, Sushmita Sen can be seen wearing a green and red saree and posing in a clapping gesture with a stern look on her face. With her hair tied to a neat bun, the Main Hoon Na actress wears a large red Bindi with bold makeup. Sushmita can be seen wearing a ring, a few bangles, and maroon nail paints.

Sushmita Sen also gave a gratitude-filled caption while sharing the first look from Taali whose tagline is ‘Bajaongi Nahi, Bajwaongi’. The Biwi No 1 actress stated, “#firstlook as #ShreegauriSawant. Nothing makes me prouder & more grateful than to have the privilege of portraying this beautiful person & of bringing her story to the world!! Here’s to life & to everyone’s right to live it with dignity!!! I love you guys.” Take a look at the same.

While some fans couldn’t stop praising Sushmita Sen’s look as Gauri Sawant, one of the netizens wasn’t too pleased. She wrote, “An actual trans actor should’ve played this role! Casting appropriation needs to be a thing in India.” Another user joined in this criticism and stated, “I think it's high time now, transwomen should also be given a chance to perform... instead of taking a female actor a transgender person should perform this role.”

Well, Sushmita Sen also had her share of admirers. Her sister-in-law and actress Charu Asopa wrote in the comments section, “Wowww… First look is awesome. So proud of you didi. Looking forward …love you didi.” Sushmita’s daughter Renee also wrote, “Maa, So so so so proud of you. Dugga Dugga. I love you the mostest.”
