The Head of DC Films says Amber Heard was nearly let go from Aquaman 2 over chemistry concerns between her and Jason Momoa

Just weeks after Amber Heard 's testimony in which she confessed that she had to fight to keep her role as Meera in the upcoming DC movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and that her role was cut down significantly due to the defamation case with her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

According to Heard, the studio wanted to distance themselves due to the bad publicity surrounding her due to the trial. However, the studio maintains that it was the chemistry between her and her costar Jason Mamoa that led to her ole being cut down.

Hamada appeared via prerecorded message at the request of Depp's lawyers to testify if Depp or his legal team had any bearing on her cut role.

According to Walter Hamad's testimony, no statements made by Depp or his counsel had any bearing on Heard's role in the sequel. He also said that there were studio conversations concerning Heard and Momoa's "lack of chemistry."

The studio had planned to recast after the first movie for this reason but no other female stars were auditioned and he and Mamoa did talk about the chemistry issue at the time.

This comes after the recent news that both director James Wan and Jason Momoa fought hard to keep Amber Heard in the movie. According to industry insider Kathryn Arnold Heard was not asked to appear for the poster shot of the movie, and that Heard role was secured due to the efforts by Momoa and Wan. Both are reportedly "committed to her" and "adamant" that she return for the sequel.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to release on 17 March, 2023.
