Vidya Balan is currently winning accolades for her performance in the crime thriller Jalsa. The actress is hailed as one of the most versatile and celebrated performers in the industry but has also seen her share of box-office duds. In a recent media interaction, Vidya revealed that she had wished that more people would have seen the 2016 film Kahaani 2 which was a sequel to her 2012 successful film Kahaani.

For the unversed, Kahaani 2 had failed to receive the same critical acclaim and box office success as its prequel. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama , when Vidya Balan was asked which film of hers, she wished was seen more by the audience, she was quick to reply with Kahaani 2. Vidya also recalled that the demonetization was announced just a month before the release of the movie in November 2016.

However, Vidya Balan had added that she was not sure if people would have gone to see the movie even if there was no demonetization. The Bhool Bhulaiyaa actress said, “I don't know if they (audience) would have (gone to the theatre) otherwise, but it's comforting that there's an excuse."

The movie Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh had Vidya Balan playing a woman who is accused of killing a small girl and then goes on a quest to prove her innocence. The movie also starred Arjun Rampal and Jugal Hansraj in the lead roles. The film was directed by Sujoy Ghosh who had also helmed the prequel.

Talking about Vidya Balan’s latest movie Jalsa, the movie also stars Shefali Shah in the lead role. It has been helmed by Suresh Triveni and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video . On the work front, the actress will also be seen in her next untitled movie opposite Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’cruz and Never Have I Ever actor Sendhil Ramamurthy.
