Vijay Antony's daughter Meera dies by suicide; Raghava Lawrence, Sarathkumar and other celebs express grief

In a shocking turn of events, Tamil actor and music composer Vijay Antony’s daughter Meera died by suicide on Tuesday(September 19, 2023). The 16-year-old was found dead at her Chennai home. The unconfirmed reports suggest that she was battling depression. A senior police officer said that the child was rushed to a private hospital in Mylapore early this morning and doctors declared dead on arrival.

Meera was one of actor Vijay Antony and his wife Fathima's two daughters. She studied in Class 12 at a private school in Chennai. Her body has been sent for post-mortem for further investigation. Soon after the unfortunate news broke on social media, several Tamil actors and directors expressed grief over her death.

Director Venkat Prabhu tweeted, “Woke up to this shocking news! Deepest condolences Vijay Antony Saar and family. RIP Meera.” Actor Sarathkumar wrote, "The news of the untimely and unfortunate demise of Meera, the daughter of @vijayantony and Fatima is shocking beyond imaginations. No amount of consoling and condolences can replace the everlasting grief of Vijay Antony and Fatima. Vijay I hope the almighty gives strength to your family to bear this unfathomable loss. May her soul rest in peace #RIPMeera (sic)."

Raghava Lawrence also offered condolences on X. He wrote, “I am deeply saddened by loss of your daughter , May her souls rest in peace. My heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you @vijayantony sir.. I pray Raghavendra swamy to give more strength to you and your family in this tough times (sic)." "Shocked to hear that Vijay Antony sir’s daughter committed suicide. Losing a child, it deeply hurts. No words can express the pain and grief. My deepest condolences to him and his family. (sic)," tweeted director RJ Balaji.

Meanwhile, Vijay Antony is married to Fathima Vijay Antony and are parent to two daughters, Meera and Lara. Back in March, Fatima had shared a photo of Meera and congratulated her for achieving a milestone at school. Earlier this year, Vijay made his Tamil directorial debut with Pichaikkaran 2.
