Of late, filmmakers Vivek Agnihotri and Anurag Kashyap are involved in a petty disagreement over Oscar nominations. It all started when Kashyap suggested that RRR should be India’s submission to the Oscars instead of The Kashmir Files . His statement didn’t go down well with Agnihotri and he trained guns on him sarcastically hoping his recently released Dobaara goes for the Oscars.

Agnihotri responded to Kashyap’s statement by saying that ‘these people’ have been running campaigns against me for many years. “In this case, it was a wrong precedent. This is ethically wrong. You can share your preference, but why are you saying which film shouldn’t go (to the Oscars)?” he told a news portal. He went on to say that he has never looked up to the Oscars but it is necessary to defend his films from Bollywood people.

Furthermore, Agnihotri attacked Kashyap asking why he is saying that his films shouldn’t go to the Oscars. “Why is he so scared of the film? Second: Why doesn’t he want the stories of Hindu genocide to be told to the world? Thirdly, is he a genocide-denier?” he told Hindustan Times. Agnihotri was also reported to take a sly dig at Kashyap’s recently released Dobaaraa. “I wish him all the best for his release. I hope people go and watch that film and make it more successful than The Kashmir Files. Hope it goes for the Oscars,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Kashyap had earlier said that if SS Rajamouli’s RRR gets Indian selection, 99 percent chances are that it might get nominated for the Academy Awards. He further said that he doesn't know what film will be going to be picked but hopes that it is not The Kashmir Files. In terms of work, Kashyap’s Dobaaraa starring Taapsee Pannu and Pavail Gulati released today. It is the remake of a Spanish movie titled Mirage. On the other hand, Agnihotri is gearing up for his next The Delhi Files.
