Vivek Agnihotri on Akshay Kumar praising The Kashmir Files, says 'he had to say that out of helplessness'

    Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files which was based on the brutal exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits in early 1990, went on to receive an astounding success at the box office. Not only this but many Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Kangana Ranaut, Aamir Khan, and others praised the movie. However, now the director has alleged that Akshay had only praised the movie out of sheer helplessness and because he did not have any other option other than to do so.

Not only this but many Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar , Suniel Shetty , Kangana Ranaut , Aamir Khan , and others praised the movie. However, now the director has alleged that Akshay had only praised the movie out of sheer helplessness and because he did not have any other option other than to do so.

    In an interaction with RJ Raunac, Vivek Agnihotri said that Akshay Kumar was at a public event wherein people were asking him about the success of The Kashmir Files so he had to praise the movie out of compulsion. The director said, “He had to say that out of helplessness since 100 people came to him asking about The Kashmir Files. When they asked, ‘your film didn’t do well and that one worked’ then what could he say?” referring to Akshay’s movie Bachchhan Paandey not working well at the box office.

    For the unversed, Akshay Kumar had spoken about The Kashmir Files saying, “All of us want to tell stories of our country. Some may be well-known, others not as much. For example, Vivek has made The Kashmir Files that brought a painful truth to the fore and shook us all. It is a different thing that it resulted in my film not performing well.”

    Vivek Agnihotri had also taken to his social media handle to thank Akshay Kumar. The Tashkent Files director shared the video of Akshay praising The Kashmir Files and captioned it stating, “Thanks @akshaykumar for your appreciation for #TheKashmirFiles.” Take a look at the video.

    Talking about The Kashmir Files, the movie garnered around Rs 250 crore and above at the box office. It starred Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Subash, Darshan Kumar, and others in the lead roles. Agnihotri also announced his next project titled The Delhi Files recently.
