When a 15-year-old Sara Ali Khan stalked Varun Dhawan in a gym after Student of The Year's release, pretended to be on a call in a lift

Coolie No. 1 remake might not have entertained the audience when it released but it did give the audience an onscreen pair to root for in Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan . The two actors were born to be entertainers and their off screen and on-screen presence is testament to it. While the two haven’t signed any new films together, here’s a blast from the past that will totally convince you that we need to see more of these two actors together.

Varun Dhawan once hilariously shared on The Kapil Sharma Show how a 15-year-old Sara stalked him in the gym when he was fresh from the success of his first film Student Of The Year . The actor who went on to deliver back-to-back hits shared how his Coolie No. 1 co-star followed him in to the lift for the gym and then pretended to be on a phone call and then followed him out to the gym.

“Student of The Year release ho chuki thi and I had gone to the gym. Tab ek bacchi bhag rahi thi idhar se udhar phone pe. Toh main lift ki taraf jaa raha that oh ye bacchi lift ke bahar nikli. Toh main andar chala gay aur ye bachi ghoom ke wapas andar aa gayi lift mein aur phone kiya kisi ko. Mujhe ghoor rahi thi, hans rahi thi pata nahi kya kar rahi thi. Aur main sooch raha hoon, ye kise baat kar rahi hai lift mein, kyunki network toh hota nahi hai lift mein. Phir main nikla wahan se aur main chal ke gaya andar aur ye peeche peeche aayi par kuch boli nahi. Woh bacchi Sara hi thi (Student of The Year had released and I had gone to the gym. There was child there, who was running around doing something on her phone. I entered the lift while she was exiting and she simply turned around and re-entered and called someone. She was staring at me, giggling or doing what I don’t know and I was thinking who is she talking to as there is was no network in the lift. I exitd and she followed me but didn’t say a word and the kid was Sara),” Varun recalled on the show.

Sara who was also present on the show unabashedly admitted to have followed the actor and justified her behaviour as she said that she pretended to be on a call in a lift with no network only to make her stalking less obvious. When Kapil asked her who she was talking to, Sara said, “Kisi se nahi, kuch activity chaiye hoti hai, kisi ko ghoor rahe ho, stalk kar rahe ho lift mein, idhar udhar kuch toh karo (I wasn’t talking to anyone but when you are in a lift stalking someone you need an activity to pretend you’re busy).”

Varun further revealed he was 23 at the time while Sara said she was 15. Reacting to this, Varun joked, “Muhje pata hai abhi kaiesa laga? Who jab umar ho jati hai heroes ki aur who log adhe se kam umar wali heroines ke saath kaam karte hain(You know how I felt right now? Like those actors who are old and work with actresses half their age).” Sara laughed out loud and assured the actor by saying the he’s the youngest hero she has worked with till then.

Well, after the encounter in the lift, Sara signed on for David Dhawan’s Coolie No. 1 several years later and got to romance Varun on screen. Looking back at their first meeting it is certain that brining them back together for another project will be a whole lot of fun.
