When Aishwarya Rai Bachchan took a sly dig at Alia Bhatt's nepotistic privileges

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has made a terrific comeback with Mani Ratnam’s period drama, Ponniyin Selvan. The recently released trailer showed her layered characters screaming vengeance and deception. Twitterati hailed her undying beauty and performance saying that ‘Queen is back’. Well, the actress has ruled hearts for more than two decades and has closely known and dealt with the Bollywood dynamics. Being an outsider, the actress has worked hard and created a niche for herself in the industry which no one can replace. Amid this, her old interview video is going viral where she took a sly dig at Alia Bhatt ’s nepotistic privilege.

In an old interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aishwarya lauded Alia Bhatt’s performance and also noted how opportunities are laid on her lap. “I have said this to her also, ‘it’s fantastic for you'. The kind of support Karan has given to her from the beginning, and to have that kind of an establishment with you is very comforting because you know it is not tough. You can have it all laid out for the longest time. And she smiled. It's great where you as an actor know there are only good opportunities ahead.” She further added that "But what's nice is she is also doing good work, along with great opportunities which are virtually there literally on her lap, regularly."

For those unaware, Alia made her debut with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions’ Student of the Year. Having worked with him for several films in the past, she is now set to feature in Karan’s next directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film also stars Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan.

Meanwhile, Aishwarya’s Ponniyin Selvan stars Vikram, Trisha, and Karthi among others. The film features her in the dual role, one of Nandini, who seeks revenge, and another role of Mandakini Devi.
