When Akshay Kumar was 'on guard' after being warned about Salman Khan being a 'difficult' co-star ahead of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi

David Dhawan directorial Mujhse Shaadi Karogi was one of the biggest entertainers on 2004. The film has completed 18 years since its release today but we are still not over Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar ’s epic chemistry in this comedy. The two actors collaborated for the first time and gave the audience a film they will not get over for a long time as they fought for Priyanka Chopra’s affections.

The movie hit all the right notes right from casting and performances to script and the dialogues. However, Akshay did admit in an interview that he had his guard on after signing the film after being warned by several others about his co-star Salman Khan.

It was during an in interview for the promotions of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi that Akshay was asked if he found Salman to be a difficult co-star to work with. Akshay only had great things to say about Salman after doing the film with but he did admit that he had been warned before he began shooting.

The actor told Rediff during an interview in 2004, “Not at all. After being warned about how difficult he was, I was on my guard. Let us not forget, Salman has repeatedly worked with [producer] Sajid Nadiadwala and [director] David Dhawan. I could have been the odd one out. But Salman and I got along like a house on fire from day one. I had a great time working with him. In the script, we had our own individual space and purpose. He never once interfered with my scenes or dialogues, or muscle into my character.”

Akshay and Salman walked away from the project as good friends and collaborated again in the movie Jaan-E-Mann which released in 2006. While Bollywood fans today want to see the Khans come together for a film like they collaborated on different two hero films in the 90’s, we say bring back Akshay and Salman back together, full Mujhse Shaadi Karogi style.
