When Shah Rukh Khan aided an ailing Kashmiri Pandit family, Ashok Pandit's old tweet goes viral

The Vivek Agnihotri directorial The Kashmir Files based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits has created a lot of buzz as it has shattered all the box office records. Amidst the success of the film, filmmaker Ashok Pandit’s tweet from 2015 about superstar Shahrukh Khan providing assistance to a Kashmiri Pandit family has become viral.

Back in 2015, Shahrukh has helped a Kashmiri family who was in desperate need of financial assistance. According to the article published by DNA, Deepak Raina with his family migrated from Sogam to Delhi after the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990. The family had an accident in July 2015 while moving to Delhi from Jammu in which Deepak’s mother died. However, Deepak’s wife and two-year-old daughter survived and were admitted to the hospital.

As per the tabloid, Deepak's brother-in-law Ramesh Raina was quoted saying, “Neenu(Deepak’s wife) was in coma, Deepak was critical and the child was numb below the waist. The family could not afford the cost of treatment which was in lakhs”.

Thereafter, Ashok who himself hails from Kashmir called Shah Rukh for immediate help. Not wasting a moment, the superstar quickly sent a cheque for ₹3 lakh for the family’s treatment. “To my utter surprise, Shah Rukh Khan called me up and offered to help in whatever way possible. Within two days I received a cheque from Gauri Khan,” Pandit said. “We are indebted to Shah Rukh Khan for helping us in time of need,” Ramesh added.

This act of kindness by the actor was shared by the filmmaker on Twitter. Alongside the DNA article, Ashok wrote,” @iamsrk I respect and will not forget this humane act of yours.”

Talking about The Kashmir Files, the film is currently receiving a humungous response from the audience. The film features Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi in key roles.

Meanwhile, on the work front, King Khan is all geared up for his upcoming film Pathaan alongside John Abraham and Deepika Padukone . Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the film is touted to be a high-octane action drama.
