‘Yeh Hai Jalwa got sidelined’: Ameesha Patel blames her film’s failure on co-star Salman Khan’s hit and run case

Ameesha Patel is currently busy soaring high on the success of Gadar 2, which has not only emerged as a blockbuster hit but has also broken several records. Co-starring Sunny Deol as the beloved Tara Singh to her Sakeena, the film is a sequel of their 2001 hit film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Well, every actor enjoys a rollercoaster ride of success and failure in their career. But Ameesha was always sure of the films she did. She even had high hopes from her 2002 release Yeh Hai Jalwa. Ameesha believes that the Salman Khan co-starrer was a really good film.

In a chat with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha revealed what she believes was the reason behind Yeh Hai Jalwa’s massive failure at the box office. She shared, “I think Yeh Hai Jalwa was one of David Dhawan’s best films. Salman has never looked more handsome and the music and everything was good. But I think because, you know, earlier the media when they gave news the audiences were not so open about accepting some negative views about their favourite actor. Salman’s accident had newly happened and so Yeh Hai Jalwa got sidelined. Had the audience been open to it, that was one film that would have done really well as well.”

Here, Ameesha is talking about Salman’s infamous hit and run case of 2002. A few months after the release of their film, Bollywood’s Bhaijaan was arrested for running over 5 homeless people on the street. In her interview, Ameesha went on to add that Zameer and Mangal Pandey: The Rising were two other films which did not deserve to be written off so soon. Well, even though there were some misses on the way, Ameesha has enjoyed several hits in her bright career with films like Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Race 2. With Gadar 2, she added yet another feather to her hat.
