Zareen Khan says people still assume Salman Khan helps her find work: "I cannot be a monkey on his back"

Actress Zareen Khan opened up about her journey of 12 years in Bollywood in a recent interview and spoke her heart out about the many preconceived notions that exist about her as an actress. Having made her debut opposite Salman Khan in the movie Veer , Zareen spoke about how it is assumed that the superstar gave her a push in her career.

Speaking of the circumstances that brought her to the industry Zareen said that after her father’s demise she took on the responsibility of providing for her family and turned to acting. She admitted that she felt intimidated and lost early on but it was misconstrued that she’s arrogant.

Zareen’s feels that often times she wasn’t even offered a platform to showcase her talent and was assumed to be just a pretty face. Talking about the assumption that Salman gave her a hand in her career Zareen further said that many still live with this notion about her.

“I’m thankful to Salman because I would’ve never entered the industry if it was not for him. He gave me an entrance to the industry. But my struggle started after I became a part of the industry because then I knew nothing. Salman is an amazing person but he is also a busy man. I cannot be a monkey on his back and bother him for little things. A lot of people to date think that all the work I do is through him and that’s not true. Salman is a friend and just a phone call away but I’m not pestering him. And that undermines the struggle, the hard work that I’ve done.”

The actress who started off with Veer had to face several comparisons to Katrina Kaif after she arrived in 2010. She has starred in films like Housefull 2, Ready, Hate Story 3, Aksar 2, 1921 and others.
