A hate-tweet for Deepika Padukone's Gehraiyaan accidently gets re-shared by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions; goes viral

Deepika Padukone , Siddhant Chaturvedi, Annaya Panday and Dhairya Karwa starrer Gehraiyaan has divided the internet as it revealed itself to be an intense drama with complex modern relationships at the heart of it.

On one hand, the there are people who can’t stop raving about the captivating performance by the cast and on the other hand are people who have been bashing the film for the many twists and dark turns the movie takes in the second half. However, in a funny incident, the official account of Karan Johar ’s Dharma Productions seems to have re-shared a hate post for Gehraiyaan.

The screenshot of a tweet shared from the Dharma handle read, “The only gehraiyaan after watching #Gehraiyaan are the ones in my brain because of all the brain damage that movie gave me.”

The post couldn’t have been removed from social media fast enough by the company and went viral soon after being posted giving people who didn’t like the movie more arsenal to in trolling it.

The Shakun Batra directed film released on Amazon Prime Video directly on February 11. The movie has earned Deepika high praises from all corners for her performance but those who have watched it seems to have a lot to say about the shocking and mentally tax second half of the film.

Gehraiyaan isn’t at all what the audience initially made it out to be which is a film focused on love, heartbreak and exploring infidelity in modern relationships even though these remained the talking points for the cast and makers during promotions.

Deepika plays a yoga instructor in the film who dissatisfied in her own relationship has an affair with her cousin’s fiancé played by Siddhant while Ananya plays the cousin. Dhairya plays Deepika’s boyfriend of six years in the film. The aftermath of the affair and how it changes the lives of the four individuals is the what Gehraiyaan is all about.
