A new BTS video from the sets of Ponniyen Selvam 2 gives us our best look yet at Vikram's prince Aditha Karikalan

The latest video from the upcoming Ponniyen Slevam 2 is dedicated to actor Vikram and his character prince Aditha Karikalan.

In the movie Aditha Karikalan is the oldest prince of the Chola empire and heir to the throne, however, due to his troubled past with Nandini played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, he has no interest in being king.

Vikram's portrayal of the prince received praise from critics and fans alike. While the BTS video mostly contains footage from part of 1, it does have a few snippets from the upcoming sequel.

However, fans will have to wait until April to watch the first trailer for Ponniyin Selvam part 2. but we will surely get more such BTS videos ahead of the movie's release.

This is the third BTS video released by the producers of the movie. The first featured interviews with the cast including Karthi, Jayma Ravi, and Vikram, the second was as a tribute to actress Trisha Krishan and her portrayal of princess Kundavai.

The movie's trailer and music launch is rumored to be unveiled in a grand event held on April 5, just weeks before the movie's release with A.R Rahman expected to perform live at the event.

Ponniyen Selvan was a huge critical and commercial success becoming the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2022 and the fifth highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time with a total box office collection of 500 crores.

The movies are based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel, Ponniyin Selvan, Which focuses on the Chola dynasty specifically Rajaraja Chola and his rise to power.

The franchise was long thought to be unadaptable for the big screen with countless stars and producers trying and failing over the years including MGR and Kamal Hassan.

Ponniyin Selven boasts of an ensemble main cast that includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Prabhu.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 will hit theaters worldwide on April 28th, 2023.
