After taking on Yash in KGF: 2, Sanjay Dutt will face off against Vijay in 'Thalapathy 67'
Thalapathy 67 will be the third installment in the Lokesh cinematic universe.
The hype surrounding Vijay 's second collaboration with director Lokesh Kanakaraj is growing day by day. Now fans of the Lokesh cinematic universe have something else to be happy about as Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt has signed on for the project.
Sanjay Dutt's iconic portrayal of the villainous Adheera in the blockbuster K.G.F 2 was well received by fans and critics alike, no doubt that Lokesh has even bigger plans with the actors for Thapalathy 67.
In a recent interview actor, Vishal confirmed that he would be playing the villain in Thalapathy 67 , so there is a strong possibility that Sanjay Dutt will be playing one of the good guys in the movie.
Along with Sanjay Dutt, and Vishal,Trisha Krishnan has been cast as the female lead in the movie.
Thalapathy 67 will see Vijay and Trisha reunite after a gap of 15 years, their last movie together was the 2008 action movie Kuruvi.
The movie will be the third installment in the franchise following 2019's Kaithi which starred Karthi and 2022s Vikram which starred Kamal Haasan in the lead.
The franchise has grossed around 530 crores at the box office. Thaplathy 67 also marks the second collaboration between Lokesh and Vijay after 2021's Master.
Lokesh Kanakaraj has announced three other installments set in his cinematic universe, they are Kaithi 2 starring Karthi, Vikram 2 starring Kamaal Hassan, and finally, a spinoff of Vikram focusing on Rolex played by Suriya, who had a cameo at the end of Vikram.
Currently, Sanjay Dutt has two other projects lined up for 2023, they are The Good Maharaja and Ghudchadi.
Meanwhile, Vijay is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Varisu which is directed by Vamshi Paidipally and will see the superstar be paired with Rashmika Mandanna for the first time.
Varisu will hit theaters worldwide on January 12th.
