Anees Bazmee: ‘Akshay Kumar cannot be replaced; it is a very small thing for him to do or not do Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’

When most movie lovers hear the words ‘ Bhool Bhulaiyaa ’ or ‘Manjulika’, the two names that come to mind instantly are of Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan . Well, Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani added their names to the list yesterday when they arrived on the silver screen with the spiritual sequel of the horror comedy, titled Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. While the star cast and the story is completely different, the film has managed to entertain the audiences just like the original. In the trailer we did miss Vidya as Manjulika, but post the release most fans can agree that the sequel is a package which turned out to be even better than expected!

In a recent chat with Indian Express, director Anees Bazmee was asked why he did not cast Akshay and Vidya and instead signed Kartik and Kiara. To this, the filmmaker replied, “Akshay is too big for these small things. Akshay Kumar cannot be replaced, and he knows that he is not replaced in this film. Akshay has a great body of work over 25 years. Akshay is doing comedy, he is dancing, he is doing action, he is doing everything, he is getting offered the kind of films he wants. So, it is a very small thing for him to do or not do Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.”

He went on to add that if the story would have permitted, Akshay would have agreed to come on board. Bazmee shared that he and the actor have a great relationship as well as friendship. They share a great rapport and the filmmaker would love to work with Akshay again. Well, we hope that happens soon! Meanwhile, the actor is currently busy gearing up for his next release, Prithiviraj.
