'As of now, we have no such plans' Kantara director Rishab Shetty clears the air on recent rumors of a sequel

The director clarified that the makers of Kantar had no plans for a sequel as of yet. The recent rumors of a sequel started when a video of Rishab Shetty and his wife attending a Bhootha Kola festival in Mangalore went viral.

The director clarifies in his statements that he and his wife attended the ceremony to pay tribute to the success of the movie and nothing else.

Fand has been hoping for a sequel to the movie ever since the success of the Kantara . The movie was one of the biggest surprise hits of the year grossing a massive 450 crore at the box office against a budget of 16 crores.

The movie is the second highest-grossing Kanada movie of all time and the highest-grossing Kannda movie of 2022 after Yash's KGF: Chapter 2.

The movie is written and directed by Rishab Shetty, who plays the lead role. The movie is an action drama with supernatural elements sprinkled in it.

The Story focuses on the lives of a group of villages who depend on the forest they live in for their livelihood and how they must defend themselves when their way of life is threatened.

The movie set a lot of box office records throughout the country, with its Hindi dub breaking a twenty-one-year-old record for buy collecting 8 crores in the eighth week of its run in the Hindi belt a record held previously held by Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

In the international market, the movie ran for fifty days in Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

The full cast of the movie includes Rishab Shetty, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, Prakash Thuminad, Naveen D Padil, Swaraj Shetty and Manasi Sudhir.

The cinematography for the movie was handled by Arvind S. Kashyap with editing being helmed by K. M. Prakash Pratheek Shetty.

Kantara is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
