Atrangi Re: Not Akshay Kumar but Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan were the initial choices in the Sara Ali Khan- Dhanush starrer?

Atrangi Re is all set to release this weekend on Disney + Hotstar . The film stars Sara Ali Khan in the lead alongside Dhanush and Akshay Kumar . Right from the announcement, the casting has raised eyebrows. But, did you know that Akshay wasn't the original choice for the film?

If a report in Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, then Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan were the first choices for the project. A source told the portal, "The soul of Atrangi Re, lies in the concept of desirable men and hence, the first actor that came in Rai's mind to play the role of a desirable magician turned lover was Salman Khan. While the superstar loved the concept, things didn't fall in place for reasons best known to the two." He further added, "Again, much like Salman, Hrithik too is among the most desirable actors of Hindi cinema with an unmatched fan following among females. The two had multiple meetings, and Hrithik was on the verge of signing the film before finally letting go of it at the last moment."

Akshay Kumar had revealed how Aanand L Rai was shocked when he said yes to the part since it is a small part of the film. But, looks like Akshay Kumar and Aanand L Rai's bond has gotten stronger with the film and the two collaborated again for Raksha Bandhan , and also for Gorkha. We are yet to see what his part in the film would be.
