Attack box office collection day 1: John Abraham's action thriller starts dull, hit by RRR, The Kashmir Files

John Abraham-starrer Attack has started off on a dull note at the box office. The action-thriller is estimated to collect about Rs 3 crore, much below the conservative prediction of over Rs 5 crore, on its opening day.

According to Box Office India, the film’s performance at the box office is very similar to John’s last movie Satyameva Jayate 2 '. In comparison, SS Rajamouli’s RRR is still soaring at the box office with about ₹13 crore on its second Friday.

Attack’s collection is said to be affected by Jr NTR and Ram Charan’s period drama RRR and Vivek Agnihotri ’s The Kashmir Files , which are still raging numbers at the box office. Released on March 25 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, RRR has so far collected ₹132 crore in India and almost ₹700 crore worldwide.

Directed by Lakshya Raj Anand, the action-packed film was released in cinemas on April 1. Apart from John, the film also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez in key roles. In the movie, John essays the role of a super-soldier who was once paralysed after an attack and given a powerful body aided by artificial intelligence by the scientist. With the current estimates, the film has to come up with an upward trend on the weekend to save itself from emerging into a complete disaster.

Earlier, John opened up about his films not being well received by the audience. He told PTI, "I lost myself somewhere down the line. Aditya Chopra once told me, 'John, you're the only actor who has made the most interesting choices that have failed, because they're way ahead of their time. But that has defined you'. I am defined by the choice I have made.”
