    Ever since Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was announced, it has been creating a lot of buzz mainly for its title. While some are speculating if it is the second installment of Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda ’s 1998 hit movie of the same name. However, filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar has cleared all the confusion saying that the film is completely a new film and has no connection with the old one.

    For the unversed, 1998 hit Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is a comedy-drama directed by David Dhawan that starred Govinda and Amitabh in double roles. It also had Raveena Tandon, Anupam Kher, Paresh Rawal , and Satish Kaushik in supporting roles with Madhuri Dixit in a special appearance.

    Zafar clarified that his upcoming film starring Akshay and Tiger is a high-octane action drama. "Our film Bade Miyan is a completely new film. It has nothing to do with the old one. It is going to be a big action film. Right now, we are preparing for it and we will begin shooting by the end of the year," he told Etimes.

    Earlier, Zafar addressed the rumours that claimed Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is going to be shelved. Quashing the rumours, the filmmaker told Hindustan Times, “This is absolutely baseless. We are very much on track and there’s no truth to the shelving rumours. We are currently working on the pre-production. I don’t know where these rumours are coming from. For a film of this large scale, months of pre-production is needed.”

    Bade Miyan Chote Miyan marks the first collaboration of Zafar with Akshay and Tiger. Billed as one of the biggest action thrillers of Bollywood, the film is mounted on a huge budget of Rs 350 crore. It is reported that the major chunk of the film will be shot in London. The teaser of the movie has already created a lot of frenzy among the audience to the idea of watching two action heroes on the big screen. The film is scheduled to release on Christmas 2023.
