Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 box office: Kartik Aaryan leaves RRR behind in terms of footfalls on its opening day

Kartik Aaryan starrer massy entertainer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 might just be the film that saves face for Bollywood after a string of flops. The highly anticipated horror comedy is enjoying a splendid opening day in cinemas and looks like it is going to experience some windfall gains at the box office.

With the biggest Bollywood heroes and their films in recent months failing to spark interest, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which has opened to promising reviews is said to be competing with S.S. Rajamouli ’s RRR (Hindi) in terms of the footfalls in major multiplexes across the country.

According to trade analyst Komal Nahta, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is eyeing and opening day box office Rs. 7.5 crores from multiplexes alone while RRR (Hindi) earned Rs. 8.25 crores. Even though Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is out doing the all time blockbuster starring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, the movie’s ticket price is 25% less than RRR and thus the difference in box office earnings from multiplexes.

Overall, the opening day collections for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 are predicted to be somewhere between Rs. 13 to 15 crores which is a huge achievement for Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and team. The film has opened in 3200 screens while RRR (Hindi) opened in 3400 screens.

The movie also has to face-off Kangana Ranaut ’s Dhaakad in cinemas but that shouldn’t be an issue for the movie given the big upper hand it currently has over the actioner at the box office.

The Kangana starrer film is expected to open in the range of Rs. 1 to 1.25 crores.

Bhool Bhualiyaa 2 is the sequel to Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan ’s 2008 original and despite the comparisons between the two films, the Anees Bazmee directorial stands impressively on its own feet. Apart from Kartik and Kiara the movie also stars Tabu , Rajpal Yadav and Sanjay Mishra.
