Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 vs Dhaakad box office Day 2: Kartik Aaryan's horror-comedy earnings jump by 28 percent, Kangana Ranaut's action thriller falls flat

Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani -starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 continue to record impressive numbers at the box office, whereas Kangana Ranaut ’s action thriller, Dhaakad witnesses no growth. As per early estimates, the Anees Bazmee ’s horror-comedy saw a jump of more than 28 percent from its opening day, while Razneesh Ghai’s actioner fell flat on the second day itself.

The early box office reports so far indicate the second-day collections of Kartik Aaryan’s film to be in the range of Rs 18.00 crore to Rs 19.50 crore. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has minted Rs 14.11 crore on its opening day, becoming the biggest opener at the Hindi box office collection in the year 2022.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if it becomes a super hit or a blockbuster in the long run. The Sunday collection of the film is, however, expected to be above Rs 20 crore and the film is likely to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in the first weekend itself. Adarsh also tweeted, "#KartikAaryan is on a great footing, post #BhoolBhulaiyaa2... The actor has delivered a string of Hits without the backing of big production houses or top-ranking directors... It's the moviegoers who have made him a people's superstar and the #BO numbers endorse this fact (sic)."

On the other hand, Kangana’s film was definitely not the first choice of the moviegoers. The action thriller only earned Rs 1.20 crore on its opening day. The early estimates indicate a disappointing second-day collection in the range of Rs 1.05 crore. Though the audience response to the film has been mixed, it is failing to make any improvement at the ticket window.

Meanwhile, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is the sequel to Priyadarshan’s 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Besides Kartik and Kiara, the film has Tabu , Rajpal Yadav , and Sanjay Mishra in pivotal roles. Directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by T-series, the film was released on May 20. On the same day, Kangana’s Dhaakad hit the big screen. Directed by Razneesh Ghai and produced by Sohail Maklai, the film also stars Arjun Rampal , Divya Dutta , Saswata Chatterjee, Sharib Hashmi in prominent roles.
