While the earlier social media reviews for Black Adam were overwhelmingly positive, the full reviews from critics are mostly mixed.

The majority are in agreement that Dwayne Johson is the highlight of the movie, while others enjoyed the action set pieces on display but felt the villain of the movie was underwhelming and felt that the supporting cast was underdeveloped.

The movie currently sits right in the middle at 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, but that score is sure to fluctuate as more reviews are added. one thing that should be taken into consideration though is the fact that while a lot of Johnson's movies in the recent past have received negative or mixed responses from critics they tend to receive a lot of positive reactions from fans.

So lets take a look a what critics are saying about Black Adam

    The Guardian

"Droll, witty, and proportioned like the proverbial outdoor brick-built convenience, Johnson is well placed to realise the superhero movie’s potential as surrealist action comedy."

    Total Film

"the rushed plotting leaves an over-crowded stage variably served: while Centineo and Brosnan stir intermittent laughs, Marwan Kenzari’s villain is no crowning glory."

    USA Today

"the newest DC film is full of swagger and intensity, yet it sadly lacks character – which is a problem considering Black Adam rolls out all sorts of new personalities. This is Johnson’s baby, a film spotlighting a complicated antihero he has championed for years. It wins some battles and packs plenty of punch, yet it just can’t get past familiar tropes and flaws.""the newest DC film is full of swagger and intensity, yet it sadly lacks character – which is a problem considering Black Adam rolls out all sorts of new personalities. Collider

"Black Adam isn’t a full-on course correction for the DCEU , but it is an encouraging new installment in this larger universe. Collet-Serra knows how to present this darkness and antihero in a way that’s effective, while also fleshing out one of the most promising additions to DC’s ever-expanding cadre of characters."

    The UK Independent

    "bewildering mess,"

Now the fate of Dwayne Johnson 's superhero debut lies in the hands of fans, current box office predictions for the movie estimate it to gross between $70–75 million in its opening weekend.

Black Adam will be released worldwide on 20th October 2022.
