Trisha in Brinda
Actress Trisha is quite thrilled about her debut web series, Brinda, which made its streaming debut on Friday. The series is now available for streaming on SonyLIV.
Trisha revealed that she was eager to learn about the audience's reaction to the series while asking them to share their comments on social media. "My debut OTT is now streaming. If you are in the mood for a fabulous crime thriller, action, or drama, we've got you," she said.
Brinda was originally shot in Telugu. However, it has also been dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali.
Judging from the trailer, Brinda seems to revolve around an unresolved crime that has been giving sleepless nights to cops for the past 10 years. The trailer opens with Trisha's Brinda throwing a tantrum at her subordinate after being suspended for failing to solve a case for nearly a decade. "Let's see if you can solve it without me?" she rues.
Brinda presents an investigative thriller through the eyes of a woman police officer, highlighting the prejudicial treatment she faces from her colleagues. One of her superior officers insults her in front of her subordinates, asking her to stay within the four walls of the station. He also advises her that if she wants to stay busy, she can clean, dust, and mop the station. His comments reek of misogyny, but that is unlikely to stop Brinda from pursuing what she believes in.
Brinda also has a haunted past, involving a childhood trauma that continues to give her nightmares. The series packs intense drama with strong undertones of social and political themes. The series is written and directed by Surya Manoj Vangala and also stars Indrajith Sukumaran, Jaya Prakash, Aamani, and Ravindra Vijay, among others.
