Chris Evans to team up with Dwayne Johnson for holiday movie Red One

Captain America star Chris Evans would be working with Dwyane Johnson for the first time in Red One which is produced by Amazon Studios according to reports.

Red One was announced in 2021 with Johnson set to star and with Jake Kasdan set to direct. Kasdan is known for directing Bad Teacher and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the latter starred Johnson in the lead too.

Chris Evans recently finished filming the action thriller The Gray Man along with co-star Ana de Armas and Ryan Gosling for Netflix which is said to have a budget of 200 million dollars.

While plot details or what role Chris Evans will be playing in Red One arent known the official press release for the movie described the project as, "A globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre."

In a recent interview producer Hiram Garcia described the Red One as

"It is very much Hobbs and Shaw meets Guardians of the Galaxy meets Miracle on 34th Street. It's going to take holiday mythology and turn it on its head. Really, it's hard to find another Christmas movie to even compare to it. I don't think there's ever been anything done like this in that space [...]."

With the recent success of Netflix's multi starrer Red Notice, it is understandable why movie studios will be interested in movies with a big star cast and mass appeal.

While the rest of the cast is yet to be announced the movie is set to start production this year and is slated for a holiday release in 2023.
