Doctor Strange 2 Trailer: Five easter eggs and references you may have missed

Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theaters in May. We will see Doctor Strange deal with the consequences of his actions in Spider-Man : No Way Home, in which he fractured the universe leading to heroes and villains from multiple dimensions converging.

The latest trailer for the movie had a lot of obvious references but there are some that could be missed if you didn't pay careful attention and some you only get if you are a fan of the comics.

So we decided to make a list of five such easter eggs and references from the new trailer -

    Multiple Wandas

In the trailer we see Wanda meeting a different version of herself, now this could be a call back to The House of M comic book arc in which Scarlet Witch loses control of her powers and has to be defeated by the Avengers, and we did Wanda struggle with her alter ego in WandaVision, so perhaps we will the same in Doctor Strange 2

    The Illuminate

In the trailer, we see Doctor Strange brought before a council and we hear a familiar voice, that of Professor Charles Xavier. This is a reference to The Illuminati in Marvel comics of which Xavier is a member, in the comics the organisation was founded by Tony Stark.

    Rintrah the Magical Minotaur

Rintrah the Magical Minotaur is a close ally of Doctor Strange in the comics as he has the ability to sense occult magic, in the comics he is intramental in repairing the Cloak of Levitation after it was damaged in battle.

    Defender Doctor Strange

In the comics, Doctor Strange was at one point a member of The Defenders, while Netflix did do a series on the superhero team the show was canceled but with other Netflix Marvel characters making their debuts in the MCU this could be a version of Strange with his own team.

    Spider-Man 2099

This last one could just be hopeful thinking from fans but one Twitter did notice the iconic Spider-Man 2099 in the opening of the trailer, Spider-Man 2099 is set in the future where a young scientist Miguel O'Hara creates the experiment that led to Peter Parker getting his powers and succeeds

So that's the list of five easter eggs and references from the new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The movie is directed by Sma Raimi and stars Benedict Cumberbatch , Elizabeth Olsen , Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg and Rachel McAdams.
