Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was one the biggest hits of the year earning more than 950 million dollars worldwide.

The movie was directed by Veteran Sam Raimi and had a few fun horror elements thrown in which was really appreciated by fans and critics.

But now it seems that Raimi had much more sinister plans for Doctor Strange, in Blu-ray commentary Michael Waldron revealed that the original tone of the movie was way darker.

He also revealed that there was an alternative ending planned in which our version of Doctor Strange would be trapped in an alternative dimension and an evil variant would take his place.

While does seem that this alternative ending never made it past the idea stage, it would have been interesting to see a darker ending and the implications it would have on the MCU .

Course there could be a number of reasons why this idea was cut by the studio, Perhaps to maintain the tone of the movie with the rest of the MCU or its similarity to the ending of the Loki series.

In the commentary, Michael Waldron explains

"Strange gets trapped in that [incursion] universe, and then [Sinister Strange] turns around, and the third eye opens."

He also said that they also planned on using a sinister laugh to further punctuate the scene similar to Vincent Prices' narration and laugh in Micheal Jacksons Thriller music video.

Well, we won't have to wait too long to find out more on what goes on behind the scenes as Marvel Studios is planning on relating a documentary 'Marvel Studios: Assembled' to do just that.

The documentary will be episodic in nature with each episode covering a different movie in the MCU.

The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness special will stream on Disney + on July 1st.
