Double iSmart release date: Ram Pothineni’s action drama to clash with a biggie? Find out here

It's official! The release date for Double iSmart, Ram Pothineni’s anticipated sequel to the 2019 film iSmart Shankar, has been locked. The makers of the film took to their social media handles to share the exciting update, revealing that director Puri Jagannadh's film is all set to hit the big screens on Independence Day, August 15. This means that it looks set to clash with Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2.

“LOCKED & LOADED WITH DOUBLE IMPACT. The highly anticipated action-packed thriller 'Ustaad' #RamPothineni & Dashing Director #PuriJagannadh's #DoubleISMART GRAND RELEASE IN CINEMAS ON AUGUST 15th, 2024,” the makers wrote. 

The filmmakers also shared an interesting poster of Ram as a Lord Shiva devotee. Overall, the new announcement has garnered a lot of buzz on the internet, with fans eagerly waiting to watch the action flick on the big screen this Independence Day.

Double iSmart to clash with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2?

Although the new release date announcement has generated a lot of attention, many fans are wondering why the makers of the Ram Pothineni film have chosen to release the film along with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. For the uninitiated, the most eagerly-anticipated sequel to Pushpa, Allu Arjun and M Sukumar’s Pushpa 2, is also slated to be released in theatres on August 15.

However, speculations are rife that Allu Arjun's film might be postponed. This might be a reason why the Double iSmart makers have chosen to release their film on Independence Day. Can this news be seen as a confirmation that Pushpa 2's release is being delayed? Only time will tell. 

But if both Pushpa 2 and Double iSmart end up sticking to the Independence Day release date, Telugu fans will witness two sequels clashing at the box office. An official confirmation on this is, however, awaited.

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Double iSmart is the sequel to Ram and Puri Jagannadh's 2019 blockbuster hit, iSmart Shankar. Reports reveal that Ram has undergone a massive physical transformation for Double iSmart, beefing up and sporting a stylish look in the film. 

Additionally, Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, who is also part of the film, will be seen in a completely different look. Following his successful stint in South Indian films such as KGF 2 and Leo, Sanjay has reportedly charged around Rs 9 crore to star in Double iSmart. Kavya Thapar is the female lead of the film.
