Dulquer Salmaan's Salute gets postponed days before release

The Rosshan Andrrews crime-thriller Salute, starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead has been postponed again due to the rise in cases of Covid, the movie was set released on January 14.

While the producers have not announced a new release date, it seems unlikely that it will be anytime soon. Or perhaps the movie will get an OTT release much like other delayed films of the pandemic era.

This is not the first time the movie was delayed, originally the movie was supposed to release in April 2021, but was put off due to the second wave of Covid-19 that hit the nation hard. Then an October release was planned which was again pushed in favour of January 2022.

Salute will be the first time Dulquer Salmaan has collaborated with director Rosshan Andrrews. The filmmaker is known for making some of the best crime thrillers's in the Malayalam industry in the past decade.

Salute is focused on a young police officer S.I. Aravind Karunakaran and his investigations into a crime wave in the city of Trivandrum.

The rest of the cast includes Diana Penty, Manoj K. Jayan , Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, and Sai Kumar.

The script of the movie was written by Bobby -Sanjay, with Jakes Bejoy helming the music and Aslam K Purayil in charge of the cinematography.

While the theatrical release has been delayed, the movie is set to premiere at the 51st International Film Festival Rotterdam this year.
