The countdown for Akshay Kumar , Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez led Bachchan Pandey has begun with the makers announcing a new release date. The film which has had fans intrigued since Akshay’s first look from the film arrived, is an action comedy directed by filmmaker Farhad Samji and has been written by the filmmaker along with Nischay Kuttanda.

Story

Akshay Kumar who stars in and as Bachchan Pandey in the film has previously played a character by the same name in Vijay Krishna Acharya’s Tashan which was major box office failure. The actor’s look from Bachchan Pandey in fact has remined quite a few of his fans of his look in Tashan sparking rumours of a spin off.

There have also been rumours about Bachchan Pandey being the remake of two South Indian films Jigarthanda and Veeram both of which released in 2014. However, unlike what the rumours suggest Bachchan Pandey is an original story.

Akshay sports two distinct looks in the films. In one poster he is seen donning a moustache and a lungi while in another he sports a bearded look with one blue eye.

The actor plays a gangster in the film who was previously a movie director and wants to be an actor. Akshay’s moustache sequences are reportedly set in flashbacks which will feature Jacqueline Fernandez opposite the actor.

The film is an action comedy set in Rajasthan and Kriti Sanon will be seen playing a journalist in the movie in the present day. She hopes to be a director someday while Arshad Warsi plays a struggling actor.

Cast and shoot

Besides Akshay, Kriti and Jacqueline, Bachchan Pandey also stars Arshad Warsi, Pankaj Tripathi, Prateik Babbar, Abhimanyu Singh, Snehal Dabbi and Saharsh Kumar Shukla.

Akshay has previously worked with Kriti in the movie Housefull 4 and Jacqueline in Housefull 3.

Bachchan Pandey went on floors in January 2021 in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

Release Date

Akshay Kumar announced the arrival of Bachchan Pandey in cinemas on Holi with a post on Tuesday afternoon. The actor shared new posters from the film teasing his gangster look from the movie.

Bachchan Pandey will be clashing with Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera at the box office which had already blocked the holiday for release. Ranbir’s highly anticipated movie is a period dacoit drama that also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor.

Akshay's movie has so far shuffled its release date twice with first announcing its arrival on Republic Day, 26 January and later settling on March 4. The release date for Bachchan Pandey is 18 March now.
