Exclusive: Aanand L Rai feels Sara lived every emotion of her Atrangi Re character; says ‘it’s not easy for this age’

The beautiful Sara Ali Khan is one of the most popular star kids of Tinsel Town. Not just fans, but even her directors, co-actors and the paparazzi adore her, because she is not afraid to be her quirky, lovable self. Well, her upcoming film Atrangi Re is going to give the audience another character of Sara’s to love-- Rinku Sooryavanshi . Also starring Akshay Kumar and Dhanush in the lead, the film has been helmed by ace filmmaker Aanand L. Rai. While all the atrangi characters won hearts with the trailer, Sara stood out as Rinku. When we saw her on-screen, we did not see the actress. We saw a girl from Bihar who is unable to choose between Vishu aka Dhanush and Sajjad, played by Akshay.

In an exclusive chat with Desimartini, Aanand explained why he chose Sara to portray the role of Rinku. Describing the actress, he stated, “Very transparent. Not at all calm, still innocent. So talkative, still so much of silence, you know. She says so much, but jitna woh bolti hai use zyaada uske andar hai. Mere liye Rinku yahi thi.” When asked if he knew she was his Rinku the moment he met her, the filmmaker replied, “Before her, I knew that she was doing my film. It’s like, usse pata bhi nahi tha ki main usko bolne waala hun.”

Rai went on to add, “She was made for this film and the way she has.. she has worked hard and lived every emotion of this character. It’s not easy for this age, it’s not easy. She’s a very focused girl, woh aise dekhne mein nahi pata chalta uska but she is very very focused girl.”

After watching the trailer of Atrangi Re, we can’t help but agree with Aanand L Rai . In fact, we cannot imagine another actress as Rinku. Can you?
