One of Bollywood’s most versatile performers, Bhumi Pednekar is currently basking in the success of her recently released comedy drama Badhaai Do . Also starring the very talented Rajkummar Rao in the lead, the film follows the story of two closeted homosexuals who opt for a lavender marriage in order to keep their secret safe from their families. While Bhumi beautifully played the role of PE teacher Sumi, Raj portrayed the character of a cop named Shardul. Well, in an exclusive interview with Desimartini, Bhumi opened up about the love received by Sumi, Shardul and their film.

Bhumi shared, “I have never had my social media inbox flooded, my Twitter flooded the way it happened after Badhaai Do and I think it’s the same for Raj (Rajkummar) as well. We’ve had like posts, like from so many members of the community, from like you know even non members of the community. And you know just posts that were so thankful, you know people actually telling us that we are going to stand up for ourselves after watching Badhaai Do, how they fought in the theatre while watching Badhaai Do because they called some homophobes out, or you know how they found the courage to come out to their family..”
