Jhund marked a reunion for Nagraj Manjule and his Sairat actors Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, but it was the filmmaker’s first collaboration with Bollywood’s Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan.

After leaving the entire country in awe of his masterpieces like Fandry and Pistulya among others, ace filmmaker Nagraj Manjule decided to blow Bollywood away with his debut Hindi film Jhund . He roped in megastar Amitabh Bachchan to headline the project along with the supremely talented Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, who began their journeys as actors with his film Sairat . Based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer, Jhund received rave reviews from audiences as well as critics when it arrived on the big screen. Well, the film recently took the digital route to reach more fans.

In an exclusive interview with Desimartini, Nagraj revealed his experience of working with Big B. He shared, “Bohot achha raha. Sir bohot, matlab bohot baar keh chuka hun ki sir bohot bade star hain, itne bade.. matlab duniya ke behtareen adakaaron mein se ek hain. Lekin utne hi behtar insaan hain aur bohot hi down to earth hain bohot hi pyaare hain. Aur hum sab ko bohot sayyiam se aur bade dil se unhone sweekaar kiya, humaare saath kaam kiya aur humko protsaahit karke yeh film ke nirmaan mein bohot haath hai unka (It was great. I have said this many times before, sir is a big star he is one of the greatest actors of this world. But he is an even better human being, he is down to earth and very lovable. He accepted us and worked with us with all his heart and encouraged us).”

When asked about the other characters, the filmmaker revealed that his Sairat stars Rinku and Akash wanted to do something different. The latter wanted to steer away from his 'cute roles' which made Nagraj think of him as he wrote the character of Sambhya. Talking about Rinku, Manjule stated, “Rinku toh versatile hai hi actor. Woh bohot alag alag role mein kirdaaro mein fit ho sakti hai. Aur usne iss film mein bhi woh uski khoobi dikhaayi hai (Rinku is a versatile actor. She can easily fit into different characters and roles on-screen and she proved it once again with this film).”
